Western Warriors Training - update 14/12/09
Training has been completed, with over 80
young cricketers benefiting from a structured quality programme.
A number of our players have been selected to attend county trials, letters will
be sent by Sussex on Monday 14th December. Congratulations and good luck with
your assessments in January. The list of players will be published on this
website on Friday 18th December.
It is always good to see the progress made. Of course, we are not able to select
everyone for the West Warriors; the size of the squads will be around 16
players, with 7 or 8 from each age range. We appreciate there will be success
and disappointment. The selection process is carried out by all coaching staff
and is based on assessment over the whole training programme. Areas that we
consider are ability, potential, commitment, and attitude.
For those successful, it gives the opportunity to play just below county level
and display their talents. The other players, hopefully have benefitted and
return to clubs, better players, striving to improve further.
We endeavour to find fixtures with other districts, namely South Hants and the
New Forest, where will are able to offer representative cricket to further
players.
Our aim is to provide a quality cricket experience for all involved. If you have
any comments about the structure and opportunities that you or your son/daughter
has experienced, we would encourage you to make contact with the committee.
With Best Wishes, for Christmas and the New Year,
The West Area Committee and Coaching Team
