To All U10/11 Warriors Mums and Dads

21st May 2010

Please note the following in respect of the forthcoming matches :-

I would be extremely grateful if I could have a few willing volunteers to help with scoring or umpiring (if umpires are not provided by the Sussex Cricket Board). Having help with this makes it so much easier for me on match days where there seem to be so many other things to do.

With regard to the matches themselves, they are all 1pm starts, and are 40 overs per side, usually with a couple of drinks/coaching breaks after about 14 and 28 overs. However, it would be appreciated if the boys could be at the Ground, changed, by 12.15 to take part in warm ups/team talks.

My intention is that all players, apart from the wicket keeper, will bowl 3 or 4 overs per match.

There will be a break for tea of about 20 minutes in between innings. Tea is not provided however.

I have nominated three captains for the 6 matches, and although I am there to help guide them, I try to let them make their own decisions during matches as part of their development.

Whilst, with help from the captains, I endeavour to ensure that all boys are equally involved in matches, there are times, (eg if the opposition have been bowled out quickly, or if some of our batsman bat for a long time), when a player might not have had the opportunity to bat or bowl in a particular game. Should this occur, I will, again with help from the captains, ensure that the batting/bowling order in following games recognise this.

The 12th man, although not able to bat, will bowl or keep wicket and will be on the field for at least 36 of the overs whilst Warriors are fielding.

I have been asked to collect £3 match fees, per match, and will do this during the course of match days.

The most important thing is that the boys enjoy the forthcoming matches.

As ever, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries or concerns.
